A short history
Mr Philip Stamp set up the Company in 1917 in Blenheim Street London. Trading mainly in imported silks and fabric Philip Stamp & Co Ltd also carried a vast range of haberdashery. It ran both a wholesale and retail operation serving the multitude of tailors and manufacturers in the area. This was the golden age where most of the customer were in London and almost all within walking distance.
As the years went by, the steady decline in manufacturing and evolving business landscapes meant that the agents took to the bus, trains and cars. The Company was sold to Mr Rex Brazier (my Uncle) in 1972. Again, change was needed and the retail operation was wound up and the wholesale operation moved to Hoxton Square, East London.
On his passing, the Company was taken over by myself and after many moves it has settled in the beautiful county of Suffolk. Many agents now work for the Company and they are available for visits where they can offer advice on all our products.
Our aim is to provide a modern, efficient service with old fashioned values whilst evolving to meet the needs of our customers. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.
